CCSC is a State and Nationally Recognized Gap Closing School

CCSC is committed to expanding access and opportunity for all students. We are consistently recognized as one of US News and World Report’s Best High Schools and as a Top 100 Middle School and Top 100 High School in Massachusetts.

Timeline that lists the following key accomplishments: 2009: CCSC graduates our first class of high school seniors; 2011: CCSC is named an Effective Practice Incentive Community (EPIC) award-winning school; 2015: CCSC is recognized by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary education for making dramatic academic progress with students; 2016: The City of Cambridge passes a resolution commending CCSC for its excellent achievements in providing a quality education for all students; 2016: CCSC is a finalist for the Pozen Prize for Charter Schools; 2017: CCSC receives DESE’s highest ranking among middle/high schools in the greater Boston area; 2021: CCSC is one of the 1,770 public high schools nationwide to win the inaugural College Success Award - Gold Level given by GreatSchools.org; 2023: CCSC receives an AP Access Award in Recognition of the school’s commitment to “equitable access to advanced coursework”; 2024: CCSC is one of 57 schools (out of over 1,700 statewide) named a DESE School of Recognition

CCSC Prepares Students for Postsecondary Success

CCSC’s robust, holistic, individualized program prepares students for college and career: 

  • Over 80% of graduating seniors take and pass at least one AP course during their time at CCSC
  • Over 90% of CCSC graduates in the past six years have gained admission to 4-year colleges and universities and roughly 95% of CCSC graduates matriculate to college the year after finishing high school
  • CCSC’s Class of 2024 earned over 180 college acceptances and over $4 million in merit-based scholarships
  • In the past five graduating classes, 5 CCSC graduates have been awarded prestigious, full-tuition Posse Foundation Leadership Scholarships and 2 CCSC graduates have been named Fidelity Scholars, receiving full financial support and mentorship and coaching during their 4 years in college
  • CCSC helps students explore different careers and career pathways through middle school career day, as well as career spotlight panels and field trips (including to trade and apprenticeship programs) in high school
  • CCSC’s Senior Internship Program ensures all students have the opportunity to learn from a professional mentor and get real-world experience in a field/industry they are considering pursuing. These 100 hour spring internships reflect the diverse interests of our students

Our commitment to our students extends beyond high school graduation through our Alumni Persistence Program. This program is designed to provide CCSC alumni with one-on-one coaching and guidance, resources, and emergency funding to support their social, emotional, and academic transition to college and career and as they work toward financial independence and financial security.
